The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is one of the most recognised marketing bodies in the UK who also have a strong reputation overseas, especially within Europe and SE Asia. Its qualifications are available internationally via a variety of learning formats and consist of a certificate, advanced certificate and diploma.
The CIM's stated entry criteria for each of the certificate, advanced certificate and diploma are as follows:
CIM Certificate:
Age 18 or over with two Advanced levels or agreed equivalents, eg. GNVQ Advanced Level or EdExcel (BTEC) National Certificate/Diploma.
Age 20 or over with a minimum of one year's full time work experience in sales or marketing.
NVQ or SVQ Level 2 in Marketing.
NVQ or SVQ Level 3 in any other subject.
Other appropriate qualifications approved by CIM.
CIM Advanced Certificate:
CIM Certificate in Marketing or CIM Certificate in Marketing Practice.
A non-marketing degree from a CIM-approved university.
EdExcel (BTEC) Higher National Certificate/Diploma in any subject.
NVQ or SVQ Level 3 in Marketing.
NVQ or SVQ Level 4 in any other subject.
Other appropriate qualifications approved by CIM.
CIM Diploma:
CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing or CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing Management Practice.
Degree with significant marketing content from a CIM-approved university.
NVQ or SVQ Level 4 in Marketing.
NVQ or SVQ Level 5 in any other subject.
Postgraduate degrees with significant marketing content from a CIM-approved university.
Other appropriate qualifications approved by CIM.
